BIO Sena Jane Thompson is a Minnesota native, studying Suzuki Violin from the age of three with Craig Timmerman, and going on to earn a Degree in Performance at Minnesota State University, where she studied with Marilyn Bos. Her continuing study has included private lessons with Sally O'Reilly at the University of Minnesota, as well as attending the International Aspen Music Festival where she studied with Dorothy DeLay associate, Naoko Tanaka & performed in the symphony conducted by Robert Spano. In addition to her classical studies, Ms. Thompson has studied jazz with renowned Jazz Violinist John Blake, the Turtle Island String Quartet, and the legendary Dr. Billy Taylor. She was also a touring fiddler & vocalist for the Urban Hillbilly Quartet for six years. Currently, she is freelancing and teaching privately in the Pittsburgh area. Her coaching experience includes the Extreme Strings Orchestra at the Centers for Creative and Performing Arts program at CAPA. In addition, Ms. Thompson is writer, singer, and keyboardist for her band Viola Formica. |
